Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sesame seeds
  • cup jaggery
  • 2 small cardamom

Instructions

  • Take 1 cup sesame seeds in a pan or kadai.
  • Dry roast it for 2 minutes or so. It will start to pop out. Roast it until golden and nutty aroma comes. Switch off. Allow it to cool down.
  • Then transfer to a mixer jar.
  • First grind this to a coarse mixture.
  • Then add ⅓ cup jaggery, 2 cardamom to it.
  • Again grind it until oil releases from sesame seeds.
  • The mixture should be slightly coarse and moist. The mixture should not be crumbly, it should be easy to hold and shape. If it does not hold shape then pulse it few more times until it is well combined and holds shape.
  • Transfer to a bowl, mix it well.
  • Hold it tight and shape into laddus.

Notes

  • Sesame seeds - Choose fresh good quality sesame seeds.
  • Roasting - Roast it in low flame, wait until it pops well and turns golden. Stir continuously for even roasting.
  • Grinding - Grind sesame seeds first until coarse then add jaggery.
  • Jaggery - Make sure to use jaggery that has no impurities, I have used powdered jaggery.
  • Others - I didn't add ghee or oil, the oil leaving from the sesame was just enough to form balls. But if you want you can add 1 or 2 teaspoon of ghee.
