Panjiri recipe

Panjiri recipe a authentic sweet made with whole wheat flour, ghee,nuts and dry fruits.

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup makhana
  • 1+2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cashew roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp badam roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp pista roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp raisin
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar

You can even add 1/4 cup desiccated coconut(roast and add)


    • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a kadai- add all the 3 nuts,fry until crisp and golden,Remove and set aside.Now add raisins and fry until it bubbles up and is golden.Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
    • Add makhana and roast it until crisp and golden.Break and see to check if its crisp.Transfer to a bowl and set aside.Now add remaining 2 tbsp ghee to the kadai.
    • Now add wheat flour and roast without any lumps, even if it forms break it and roast the flour.
    • Roast until its golden and nice aroma comes.See the color and texture change in the tile pic.Switch off and set aside to cool.
    • When its still warm, add cane sugar and roasted ingredients.Mix well.
    • Store in a clean dry airtight container.


    • You can add powdered normal white sugar itself but cane sugar tastes best.
    • You can keep in room temperature for about a week and enjoy.
