Chocolate Tea Recipe

Chocolate Tea is one of those refreshing drinks that can be enjoyed to unwind after a long day. This tea is just like your regular tea, with a chocolatey twist. It is surely a hit for tea and chocolate lovers and a treat for those who love both. This recipe uses basic ingredients still tastes so delicious, worth trying.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon tea powder
  • ½ teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ inch cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon dark chocolate

Instructions

  • To a sauce pan add 1 and ½ cups milk. I have used boiled full cream milk. Boil milk first before proceeding with the next steps.
  • When it starts to boil add 1 teaspoon tea powder, ½ teaspoon cocoa powder, 2 teaspoon sugar, ½ inch cinnamon and 2 teaspoon dark chocolate.
  • Give a quick mix.
  • Chocolate would melt giving it a beautiful colour.
  • Simmer and let it come to a rolling boil.
  • Give a quick swirl and simmer.
  • Let it come to a full boil again.
  • Simmer for a minute and switch off.
  • Transfer to a strainer and strain well. Discard the remains in the strainer.
  • Pour chocolate tea in serving cup and enjoy hot!
  • Enjoy chocolate tea with a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

Notes

  • Brew strong – This is an important step. Boil the tea powder in milk well. Letting it come to full boil and simmering achieves strong brew.
  • Mixing – Mix well so that cocoa powder does not form lumps also chocolate melts quickly in the heat.
  • Milk – For a creamy, café style chocolate tea, full-cream milk is your best partner. It adds a velvety look to the tea.
  • Straining – Even after mixing well, it is important to strain it before serving and discard the remains.
  • Additions – adding a pinch of salt may elevate the flavours of cocoa. You can add 1 cardamom for a different flavour.
