Wheat rava sweet pongal recipe with the flavour of coconut milk.

  • 1/2 cup wheat rava
  • 2 tbsp split yellow moong dal
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 15 nos cashews
  • 2 tbsp ghee

For the jaggery syrup:

  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1/4 cup water


  • Measure jaggery and add it in a pan, add water and dissolve it well.
  • Heat it up for 2mins just for the jaggery to get dissolved.Strain to remove impurities.Set aside.
  • Heat a tbsp of ghee, add cashews and fry until golden,set aside.Now in the same pan add wheat rava and moong dal, roast for 3mins.
  • Now add water and coconut milk.Cook in low flame.
  • Cook covered for few mins until the rava gets cooked.Once it is soft, keep cooking until the mixture becomes thick.
  • When it becomes thick add jaggery syrup and mix well.
  • Add ghee little by little, and keep cooking until it comes together.
  • After few mins, it will come together and will become less sticky, at this stage add ghee fried cashews and switch off.


  • I added moong dal along with wheat rava while cooking.Moong dal was cooked soft but not mushy, if you want you can pressure cook moong dal until mushy and add it too.
  • I added fresh homemade coconut milk.
