Black Chana Sundal

Black Chana Sundal is a dry savory snack prepared by mild tempering chana & coconut. Black Chana Sundal is a healthy snack for evening time and an alternate to junk packed foods.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup black chana
  • 3 tablespoon coconut
  • salt to taste

To roast and grind:

  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon chana dal
  • 1 no red chillies

To temper:

  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1 no red chillies
  • a small sprig curry leaves
  • a small pinch hing

Instructions

  • First dry roast the ingredients under 'roast and grind' and grind it to a coarse powder.Set aside.
  • Soak chana overnight at least for 8 hours with water.
  • Pressure cook it the next day until soft for at least 6-8 whistles. Keep aside.
  • In a pan, heat oil add mustard seeds, urad dhal allow it to crackle.
  • Then add hing, curry leaves and red chillies - saute for 2mins.
  • Then add the cooked chana and mix.
  • When chana becomes fry without any moisture , add dry roasted powder, coconut, required salt and mix well and cook for a minute. Switch it off.
  • Black Chana Sundal ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • You can even add a teaspoon of coriander leaves for garnishing.
  • You can increase the quantity of coconut too.
  • Coriander seeds can also be added along with roast and grind powder.
