Lemon poppy seed cookies recipe using whole wheat flour and poppy seeds.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • a pinch salt
  • ice water as needed


  • Measure and add wheat flour to a mixing bowl.Add baking powder and salt.Add black poppy seeds.
  • Whisk it and set aside,In another mixing bowl add oil,powdered sugar.
  • Add lemon juice.Whisk it.Now add lemon zest.
  • Mix it.Then add flour mixture.
  • Mix with your finger tips,now add chilled water little by little to form a  dough.
  • Cling wrap and chill it for atleast 30 mins.Roll out the dough to 1/4inch thickness and cut out cookies using your favorite cookie cutter.Meanwhile preheat oven at 180 deg C for 10 mins.
  • Collect the extras again roll out.Repeat to finish.Arrange in a baking tray with butter paper laid.Bake in preheated oven at 180 deg C for 10-12 mins or until the edges start to turn golden.
