Vegetable kozhukattai recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup carrot grated
  • 1/4 cup cabbage grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoon coconut grated
  • 1.5 teaspoon oil + for greasing
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Add salt to rice flour, mix it. Boil water until it bubbles up add it to rice flour.
  • Mix with a laddle, once it starts to come together, Set aside for few mins until it is warm enough to handle with hand. Now bring everything together to form a smooth dough without any cracks.
  • Heat oil in a kadai - add mustard seeds, let it splutter add grated carrot and cabbage. Saute till raw smell leaves.
  • Cook for 3-5 mins until it shrinks. Add coconut give a quick stir and switch off.
  • Now pinch a small dough, flatten it add the stuffing. Pull the edges to the center.
  • Seal it and form a ball. Similarly finish off the entire dough and stuffing. Steam cook for 10 mins or until the outer layer is shiny. Enjoy Veg Kozhukattai!

Notes

  • I just made few for clicks sake and reserved the rest for later use.
  • You can even mix the vegetable mixture while making the dough, then steam cook it.
  • You can make slightly bigger sized kozhukattais too,I made small bite sized balls.
