Sweet Potato Tikki

Sweet Potato Tikki is a sweet &spicy snack made by roasting a blend of mashed sweet potato, spices & herbs which are shaped in disc form. Sweet Potato Tikki is relished as starter, side and as a snack.  Sweet Potato Tikki is simple & quick to make in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sized sweet potato ~1 cup after cooking & mashing
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted jeera powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chat masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon amchoor powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon green chillies chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoon coriander leaves chopped finely
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Rinse the sweet potato in water. Trim the edges first.
  • Cut each into 2 and pressure cook along with little rock salt for 2-3 whistles.
  • Once pressure releases remove the skin and mash it up well without any lumps.
  • Now add rice flour, red chilli powder, jeera powder, chat masala powder and amchoor powder along with required salt.
  • Then add chopped green chillies and ginger.
  • Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • Shape them into small patties little thick like cutlets. Shape the patties and keep it ready.
  • Heat dosa tawa, add the patties, drizzle oil flip over, cook both sides till golden brown.
  • Serve Sweet Potato Tikki with green chutney or tomato ketchup.

Notes

  • If the mashed potato is loose then add little more rice flour.
  • Do not add more water while pressure cooking.
  • If you don't have amchoo powder, add little more lemon juice.
  • The spice powders can be adjusted according to your preference.
