How to cook soya chunks is explained in this post with step by step pictures and video. Soya Chunks also called as meal maker is available at stores in both small & large varieties and can be cooked easily by simmering it in water & draining the water. Cooked Soya chunks are great ingredient for making starter, gravy, rice meal and rolls.

Ingredients

Method 1:

  • 1 cup big soya chunks
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • salt to taste

Method 2:

  • 1 cup small soya chunks
  • 3 cups water
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Boil water + milk in a pan till it bubbles up rigorously.
  • Add soya chunks, cook for 2mins.
  • Switch off and add the soya chunks and let it aside for few mins for it to grow in size.
  • Rinse it in cold water for at least 2-3 times, strain and squeeze excess water.
  • Soya Chunks is ready to cook.

Notes

  • You can use any variety of soya chunks that you get.
  • Rinsing soya chunks in cold water after cooking is the key to get rid of the after smell.
  • If you are using big variety soya chunks chop them into half before using it for recipes.
  • You can use it as an alternate for minced meat. Just pulse it few times to get minced soya kheema. But make sure there is no water, squeeze it fully then grind.
