Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup bajra flour
  • 1 tablespoon coconut in bits
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup water

To temper:

  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon split urad dal
  • 1 small red chilli
  • few nos curry leaves chopped finely
  • a pinch hing

Instructions

  • Heat oil - add the items listed under 'to temper'. Let it splutter.
  • Then add coconut pieces, saute for a minute. Add required salt and water.
  • Once water starts to boil add the bajra flour.
  • Keep mixing while you add to avoid lumps. Keep cooking until it forms a dough. Transfer to a plate, grease hand with oil and mix well once.
  • Shape them as kozhukattais. Prepare the steamer and arrange the kozhukattais. Steam cook for 10 mins in low medium flame.

Notes

  • Once water starts to boil, simmer then add bajra flour. Keep mixing to avoid lumps.
