Moth Bean Sundal is tasty, healthy sundal made by cooking moth beans & tempering it with coconut & spices. Moth Bean Sundal is a must try for Navarathri at home and as an alternate snack for evening tea time.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup moth bean
  • 2 tablespoon coconut
  • water as needed
  • salt to taste

To temper:

  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon urad dal
  • a pinch hing
  • 1 no red chilli
  • few nos curry leaves

Instructions

  • Rinse moth bean until water is clear, drain and add it to a pan along with water and required salt. Add water only till immersing level.
  • Mash to check, should not be mushy at the same time when you press it should be soft. Set aside, do not strain water.
  • To a pan - heat oil add the items listed under 'to temper' let it splutter.
  • Sauté till dal turn golden then add cooked bean along with water. Sauté for a minute.
  • Let the water absorb, add required salt. Mix well then add coconut give a quick sauté and switch off. Enjoy Moth Bean Sundal!
