Bisi Bele Bath Powder is a spice mix used in the making of Bisi Bele Bath which is Karnataka specialty quickly. Bisi Bele Bath Powder makes the Bath flavourful, spiced and more tastier. Bisi Bele Bath Powder can be used as spice mix for other dishes like sambar sadam, soup, poori masala, etc.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoon chana dal
  • 1.5 tablespoon urad dal
  • 1/2 tablespoon jeera
  • 1/4 cup coriander seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper corns
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 1 inch cinnamon sticks
  • 3 nos cloves
  • 2 nos marati moggu
  • 12 nos byadgi red chillis
  • 10 nos guntur red chillies
  • 2 teaspoon cooking oil

Instructions

  • First heat oil in a pan roast cinnamon, cloves, marati moggu, fenugreek and pepper corns for few mins, set aside in a plate.
  • Now add all the chillies along with urad dal and chana dal.
  • Fry until the dals turn golden brown and the red chillies are crisp. Set aside to cool in the same plate.
  • Now add poppy seeds, jeera and mustard seeds, roast for 2mins. Set aside to cool.
  • Now add coriander seeds. Roast until slightly browned. Now set aside to cool down for few mins.
  • Now transfer the ingredients to a mixer jar and grind it to a slightly coarse mixture. Cool down then store it. Bisi Bele Bath Powder keeps well at least for a month.
  • Use a clean dry spoon every time to increase shelf life.

  • Slow roast it, do not let it burn which will affect the taste.
  • You can store it up to a month or little more, use a clean dry spoon every time.
