Semiya custard payasam recipe

Semiya custard payasam with the addition of custard powder this payasam is so flavorful and creamy.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup fine vermicelli
  • 1 and 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla flavoured custard powder
  • 1 cup water
  • sprinklers or chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat ghee and roast vermicelli until golden.Now add water.
  • Cook until it becomes cooked(soft).Drain excess water.
  • Heat it up and add sugar.Cook for a minute.
  • Add milk and cook in low flame for atleast 5 mins.
  • In a small bowl add custard powder,add milk mix well without any lumps.
  • Add the custard mixture and cook until it is starts to thicken,Switch off. It will thicken after cooling down so switch off accordingly.

Notes

  • This will be thickish so switch off accordingly and add milk if needed at serving time if it becomes too thick.
  • Do not add more custard powder it will be overpowering and will spoil the taste.
  • I just added sprinklers, you can add chopped nuts too.
