Ingredients

  • 1 cup gulab jamun mix
  • 1 and 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoon cashews broken
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Measure and get all your ingredients ready. To a mixing bowl add jamun mix, cane sugar and water.
  • Whisk well until no lumps then strain.Set the mixture aside.
  • To a pan - heat little ghee add cashews fry until golden brown. Remove and set aside.to the same pan add jamun mix mixture. Keep whisking in low flame to avoid lumps.
  • It will start to thicken in few mins. At this stage switch to spatula. Keep cooking in low flame. When it starts to thicken start adding ghee little by little. It starts to leave the sides of the pan and start rolling.
  • At this stage add remaining ghee and cook until its nonsticky. Now add ghee fried cashews and cardamom powder. Give a quick mix and switch off.
  • Easy and quick Jamun Mix Halwa ready in minutes.

Notes

  • The halwa is very smooth, if you like a texture then add 1/4 cup powdered nuts to the jamun-water mixture then proceed with same steps.
  • I felt the sweet was just right but if you prefer a bit more sweeter then add 3/4 cup sugar.It purely depends on the cane sugar variety you use.
  • You can add any nuts of your choice either cashews,almonds or even pistachios.
    I used homemade ghee so the flavour was too good.Use pure aromatic ghee for best flavour.
  • If you want chocolate flavoured halwa you can add 2 tablespoon coco powder to the mixture.
