Masala Toast

Masala Toast is a medium spicy, wonderful snack made by tempering veggies, layering it on bread and open toasting it. Masala Toast Recipe presented here is Iyengar Bakery Style where it is quite popular. Masala toast is good choice as a snack & a breakfast. Ingredients

  • 5 nos bread slices
  • 1 cup onion chopped finely
  • 1 cup tomatoes chopped finely
  • 1/2 cup carrot grated finely
  • 1/3 cup capsicum chopped finely
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaves chopped finely
  • butter to toast
  • salt to taste

To temper:

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon jeera
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger chopped finely
  • 1 no green chilli chopped finely

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan add the items listed under 'to temper'. Add onion, required salt - saute until golden.
  • Then add tomato, capsicum and carrot saute until it shrinks and raw smell leaves.
  • Add all the spice powders along with tomato sauce. Give a quick mix, add coriander leaves saute for 2 mins and switch off.
  • Vegetable mixture is ready, set aside. Now in a dosa tawa spread butter and toast bread slices until golden on both sides.
  • Spread the vegetable mixture generously.
  • Cut diagonally and serve Masala Toast hot !

Notes

  • Make sure to chop veggies finely so that it gets sauted quickly also easy tp spread on the bread slices.
  • This vegetable mixture will be enough for 5-6 slices of bread but then it depends on how much you spread it.
  • As soon as you spread the mixture serve it, else it wil become soggy.
