Cutting Chai

Cutting Chai is a Mumbai special tea served just half portion in a special glass. Cutting Chai is a flavourful, spiced refreshing drink forbreaking routines & limiting tea intake. Cutting Chai is ideal any time at home to give ourselves a space to relax or chat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 heaped teaspoon tea powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 2 nos whole cardamom

Instructions

  • Heat water in a sauce pan - add grated ginger along with crushed cardamom.
  • Add tea powder and sugar to it.
  • Let it boil for 3-5 mins , simmer. Add milk to it.
  • Let it come to a rolling boil, repeat again (2 boils in total), simmer for a minute then switch off.
  • Strain, pour to another tumbler froth it. To the cutting chai glass pour only half, then serve.
  • Serve Cutting Chai hot!

Notes

  • You can add just 1/2 cup milk to 1 cup water but I prefer 3/4 cup. It depends on how watery you like your chai to be.
  • Make sure to boil well with tea powder so that the decoction is thick and strong.
