Aval Pottukadalai Urundai | Poha Fried Gram Ladoo

Aval Pottukadalai Urundai is a mild sweet snack made by blending powdered aval & pottukadalai with ghee and shaped into ladoos. Aval Pottukadalai Urundai is simple & quick to make for evening tea time and a good choice for snack box to school and office.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup thick poha / aval
  • 1/2 cup gram dal / pottukadalai
  • 1/2 cup peanut / kadalai
  • 1/8 cup + 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/2 cup sugar I used brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Heat a tablespoon of ghee in a kadai, add poha roast until golden and crisp. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Add gram dal and roast until golden, set aside.
  • Now add peanuts and roast it. I had deskinned peanuts so used it.
  • Add poha to mixer jar first, grind it to a powder. transfer to a mixing bowl. Now add roasted gram dal.
  • Add roasted peanuts and grind it to a powder. Now add cane sugar to it.
  • Pulse it few times just for blending. Transfer to mixing bowl which already has poha mixture. Mix well.
  • Heat 1/8 cup ghee and add raisins, let it bubble up. Add it to the mixing bowl, add cardamom powder.
  • Mix well, take little mixture press and hold tight, shape them as ladoos. Shape them when its still warm so that it holds tight. Enjoy Aval Pottukadalai Urundai!

Notes

  • I used brown sugar you can use normal white sugar or jaggery or even cane sugar.
  • As we are adding as such make sure you use clean jaggery or cane sugar.
  • Hold and press tight while shaping the ladoos so that it stays firm.
  • It is mild sweet if you prefer you can increase sweetness.
  • I used thick aval but you can use thin or even red aval.
