The Slaves Thai Mama is a restaurant with unique theme and food.We have already visited The Slaves at Pollachi twice so I was way too excited to visit the restaurant here in Coimbatore. Our first visit at Pollachi had set up great level of expectation, infact when we were back after a wedding we took Pollachi route just to dine at The Slaves.
And yes the standard can be at par to the Pollachi branch both the interiors and the food.
The entrance itself tells how unique the restaurant is themed. The picture below shows the entrance to the chillout lounge at the ground floor.
Most of the pictures are from my mobile except for 2 to 3 from my DSLR.
The chillout lounge is basically for meetings, project works etc.The best thing is that nobody will nag you for any order unless you call them. How cool is that?! It is well equipped with a projector, fully air conditioned with a free WIFI service.Look how colorful the lounge looks!
Now coming to the main restaurant which is at 1st floor, there is a lift. The restaurant is so creative and aesthetically themed, you need to spend some time to look around the interiors. There is a service switch on each table, they do not disturb until you press the button.
The menu card itself(4th pic in the tile) is different.
The interiors are so well designed which is unique and they have been maintaining it so well.To be true I loved Coimbatore ambiance more when compared to Pollachi 🙂
There is a cook area(first pic in tile) where you can try cooking with the chef and serve the guests.Unfortunately we could not try it.
Coming to the restaurant food review part it has a mix of choices of cuisines from local south indian food to pastas, salads etc.
Okay this is the spread they served us so my review will be based on this.I was happy that each dish I tasted that day was different from the ones we had already so we got to taste a variety of dishes to write a genuine review.
First came the soups : clear soup and hot soup.I had clear soup.
For starter it was Smoked Mushroom Paneer Tikka – it was too spicy for my taste buds that I emptied half of the jug of water 😉 It looked a bit dry but taste was ok.
Next is a course meal with a rice and fish combo. The pulao was perfectly cooked and the flavour was amazing I guess it was jeera pulao.Fish was soo soft and tender it easily melts in your mouth, I just loved it the best of all dishes.
I didn’t taste this but again this is another fish curry with rice combo.
For the choice of vegetarians , it was mushroom varutha curry it was perfect to pair up with chapathi.
Chicken Dum Biryani was mildly spiced and good to go with raita and salna. That coconut milk chicken curry was my next favorite with a mild sweet taste.
This is a special salad with papaya, other fruits and fried nuts.
Finally for dessert : we got to taste one of the best sizzling brownies, it was soo yum that I made up my mind to try at home too 🙂 Having bought and kept the sizzler plate idle for many months, this reminded me to use it soon 🙂
I had no major negative comments to write as I loved most of the dishes.Smoked paneer tikka alone was a bit dry and too spicy otherwise everything was good. But again it depends on our own preference and taste too, so we should select the dish accordingly.
The staffs are friendly and approachable, we entered around 11:30 few mins after the restaurant opened but still the menu got ready quick at least quicker than we really expected.
Good luck to The Slaves team and thank you for hosting us!
