    This is a instant Oats & Broken Wheat Porridge Mix which will be very useful while travelling.You just need hot water to make this porridge when you have this porridge mix in hand, yes just like cerelac.

    This porridge recipe was suggested by my friend so wanted to try and post it here for the baby food series.This porridge can be given to babies from 8 months.

    Oats & Broken Wheat Porridge Mix

    Oats & Broken Wheat Porridge Mix is a healthy, tasty baby food mix made by blending oats, broken wheat & fried gram into a fine powder. Oats & Broken Wheat Porridge Mix is ideal for 8+ months babies and very handy during travel & long outings.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup broken wheat
    • 1/4 cup oats
    • 1/4 cup roasted gram dal

    For making porridge:

    • 2 tsp porridge mix powder
    • hot water as needed

    Instructions

    • In a pan take measure and add broken wheat, roast until golden. It will give nice aroma at this stage. Transfer to a plate. Set aside.
    • Measure and take oats, roast until golden brown, transfer to the plate. Set aside.
    • Now measure and take gram dal and roast until golden. Transfer to the plate and set aside.
    • Set the ingredients aside for at least 15-20mins for it to cool down.
    • Transfer to a mixer jar and grind it to a fine powder. Sieve it. You can grind in batches too.
    • The powder should be fine. Now collect the scrap and grind it again or in the next batch.
    • Cool down then store Oats Broken Wheat Porridge Mix in a clean dry box.

    For making porridge :

    • Take 2 to 3 tsp porridge mix powder, add hot water to it.
    • Mix well to form a smooth porridge without any lumps.

    Notes

    • Always follow the 3 day rule while introducing any new grain to babies incase if your baby is allergic this might help.
    • I have not used any sweetener, if you prefer you can add panangkarkandu powder. But its advisable to avoid sugar and salt for babies below 1 year. You can even use apple sauce or banana mash as sweetener.
    • If you are making a big batch then I suggest you to roast the sieved flour for few mins and store to increase shelf life.
    • This porridge mix keeps well for at least 3months in room temperature. Use clean dry spoon every time.
