    Nungu Custard | Palm Fruit Custard

    Nungu custard is an easy custard made with ice apple, milk and custard powder as main ingredients. Let us learn to make Nungu custard recipe with step by step pictures.

    Ingredients

    • 1 and 1/2 cups milk
    • 3 tbsp sugar
    • 1.5 tsp vanilla flavored custard powder
    • 1/2 cup nungu / ice apple / palm fruit roughly chopped
    • 5 strands saffron

    Instructions

    • To a sauce pan – add milk to it.Boil and simmer for 2 mins
    • Meanwhile take 1/4 cup milk in a small bowl , add custard powder to it. Mix well it should be runny without any lumps. Add this to boiled milk.
    • Add sugar to it. Mix well and cook until it thickens. Make sure it doesn’t form any lump. Keep mixing.
    • Once it coats the laddle add daffron to it mix well and switch off.
    • It should be this thick not too thick then it will set as pudding and we dont want that. Let it cool for a while then add ice apple chopped roughly.
    • Mix well and chill it.
    • Serve Nungu Custard chilled!

    Notes

    • Do not make it too thick then it will be more like pudding it should be in pouring consistency.When it just starts to coat the laddle switch off and let ot cool.
    • While cooling also it thickens  a bit.
