Food and Travel – Kumarakom (Part 2)

October 19, 2012 by Sharmilee J 14 Comments

Entrance to Cocoa Bay

Check for the Part I here

For more pics check out my P365

We started from Alleppey around noon after our lunch and reached Kumarakom in an hr’s time. After checking 2 resorts we came to Coco Bay – and yes it was our cup of coffee….to reach the lake resort a small boat(pic below) accompanied us which itself impressed us. So we checked in there around 5PM – It was a beautiful place by itself and needed no entertainment at all.
Boat Ride to resort

The lake view during sunset was amazing and we were just sitting mesmerised  with our cup of coffee 🙂

Sunset Lake View

Sitting, relaxing by the lake side was the best experience we had…..esp mittu loved the hammock and the pool. We didnt check kumarakom beach too instead planned to spend the whole day inside the resort itself.

Sit & Relax

We ordered vegetable pakoras and coffee…..Late evening the chef came to take the order….The service was too good I would say and we found the persons very friendly. The dinner was good too – But I forgot the camera so couldnt click pics. And the best thing I liked about their next day’s breakfast was their upma – yes you heard it right “rava upma” – the texture, flavour was awesome.

Resort
As it was a Friday there was no crowd at the resort when we checked in so it was an additional benefit for us. There was a kids pool too so mittu enjoyed it the most and refused to come back.
Pool Side

We had our lunch at Ashirwad(pic below) – The lunch we had there was also too good, reached the room and with a heavy heart packed up to start the drive to Cochin.

Ashirwad lunch out
We spent only 1 day at Kumarakom and started to Cochin the next day. It took us around 3.5 hours to reach Cochin and my god the traffic was worse inside the city which reminded me Chennais traffic.
Tea Time

Relax time
We went to Marine Drive and 2 malls(Oberon, Abad Nucelus Mall) and did a quick shopping there.

I made it a point to visit 2 wholesale baking shops and got few baking accessories there too.You can check out the  details of Staines&Co in Divyas space. I also mailed her asking for few good retuarants at MG Road and Abad was one of them. We lunched out at Abad on the closing day and should say it is one of the best restaurants.
Brownie with Vanilla Icecream
Desserts were truely delicious. I ordered brownie with vanilla icecream and hubby ordered chocolate fudge icecream. We finished ur lunch returned back to the room and packed to start our travel to reach our nest 🙂

Overall the trip was a cherishable one packed with lots of family times, experiences and loots of food and fun too…..And am looking forward for more such trips more often to break the routine …Hope hubby is hearing me now 🙂

Beautiful pictures, Useful and helpful information in detail. Once we visited but that time don't know any details and suffered for food. Next visit will be with your tips and surely I can say we can enjoy. Please go to trip atleast once in three months… whenever Mittu's school exams over, every term one visit and please update us about more places. Your writing is really very helpful to all of us. JP Sir, please plan this summer holiday trip soon. This time Gugu also enjoys his outing with Mittu.
